About the Company:

New Medium Enterprises, Inc. has developed VMD a red laser technology of multilayer discs that store 20GB and 40 GB (laboratory prototypes) for HD playback at Home & Digital Cinema and computer Games. Further increases up to 50 GB will be implemented in 2006.

The playback drives, except for High Definition Decoder, are entirely the DVD drives. Therefore they are inherently compatible with DVD format and their production costs will be comparable to the production costs of DVD. The industrial production of VMD will start in 2005 and will be almost entirely based on the existing DVD production infrastructure.

The technology is also suitable for the future blue laser applications with further dramatic increases of the discs' capacity.

VMD is a high quality format with unparalleled built-in copyright protection that offers the most cost-effective solution for next generation optical media. The size of the market for VMD technology is substantial, since VMD can be adapted to any optical storage formats proposed, adding substantial capacity, and versatility of applications and ease of manufacturing to any of the formats that become VMD capable.
