EMS to Review Strategic Options for Its Satellite Networks Division

ATLANTA and MONTREAL, March 15, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- EMS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:ELMG) announced today that it intends to restructure its participation in its Satellite Networks business. In the coming months, EMS will consider a variety of potential approaches, including joint ventures with industrial or capital partners, or other options, that would maximize value to EMS shareholders.

EMS SatNet is the world's leading manufacturer of DVB-RCS-compliant hubs and terminals for the satellite communications market. A recent research report by Northern Sky Research estimates that as of December 2004 EMS has a market share of 59% of the installed base for DVB-RCS hubs, and 38% of the installed base for DVB-RCS terminals. Since the report was published, EMS has received contracts and notices of award for several additional systems, and has continued to develop a considerable list of interested potential customers.

"Satellite Networks has made tremendous progress during the two years that we've recognized it as a separate division," said Alfred G. Hansen, president and CEO of EMS Technologies, Inc. "We believe that DVB-RCS technology is destined for a phase of rapid market expansion. We will be seeking business arrangements and structures that will be appropriate for this next phase, and that will both maximize value for EMS shareholders and best position SatNet for growth in this dynamic market."

"Since its inception, SatNet has enjoyed unwavering support from EMS Technologies as a corporate parent," said Don Osborne, senior vice president and general manager of the Satellite Networks division. "We continue to see significant growth in the market, and are excited by the further opportunities expected to arise from the process of evaluating potential new relationships and business structures."
