One Woman Chronicles Her Journey to Freedom in a New Memoir

ALTADENA, Calif., March 15, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- "Oppression of one sort or the other, of selected individuals or of an entire society, can lead only to tragedy and, in the end, to disaster. It is only when free that people can thrive and their spirit can soar," says published author Judith K. Lowe. In her inspiring new book, My Journey to Freedom, she looks back and records her true-life encounter with oppression and her uphill road to freedom.

In this moving memoir, Lowe shares with the reader her recollections of past events and persons she has encountered at different times of her life. Her exploration starts from her childhood in the war-torn Romania, with snatches of World War II persecutions of the Jews, and after the war, under the communist regime. It carries on to relate her experiences as a physician in a rural area of Romania, practicing medicine under difficult, bureaucratic and, sometimes, primitive conditions. Eventually, her quest for freedom brings her to America where, in spite of initial difficulties of adjustment, the opportunities which only freedom can offer are much appreciated.

In My Journey to Freedom, learn an unforgettable story of triumph over tragedy, of the ultimate victory of freedom over oppression, and of one woman's indomitable spirit in the face of devastation.

About the Author

After having practiced internal medicine for forty years, Dr. Judith Lowe retired in May of 1999.
