Modern Spirits Launches Seven Vodkas to Pair with Food

LOS ANGELES, March 15, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Southern California-based Modern Spirits today announced the addition of seven flavors to its line of hand-made, naturally-infused vodkas. The new line features unusual and complex flavors, such as Black Truffle and Celery Peppercorn, and posses a rounder mouthfeel, which sets it apart from the current crop of sharp- and artificial-tasting flavored vodkas. Modern Spirits vodkas also impart little, if any burn, which allows drinkers to enjoy them with food as they would certain wines.

"We took our cue from some of our favorite dishes to create the 2005 line- especially the small plate samplings that are popular today," said Litty Mathew, Modern Spirits co-founder. "But this is equally a nod to our non-wine-drinking heritage, where spirits are commonly paired with meals and desserts."

The new Modern Spirits line consists of:

-- Black Truffle-Surrounded by telltale scents of port, rich soil,
pineapple and chocolate. Infused exclusively during the season.
Sample pairing: Fresh fettuccine with cream sauce

-- Candied Ginger-Reminiscent of trips to the Orient, candied ginger
is sweet and demure one moment and assertive the next. Sample
    pairing: Spicy, seafood curries

-- Celery Peppercorn-A power drink, with a green bouquet that is
complemented by savory spices and a touch of heat from Malabar
peppercorn and dried red chilies. Sample pairing: Grilled red
    meats

-- Grapefruit Honey-Clean, sharp and vivid, grapefruit honey is
mildly tart with a hint of bitterness and a touch of sweetness
from a dollop of honey. Sample pairing: Poached fish

-- Pear Lavender-Combining the lingering sweetness of pears with a
light touch of lavender creates an intimate and delicate infusion.
An ode to poetry. Sample pairing: Creamy baked desserts

-- Rose Petal-Romance comes first to mind but dig deeper and unleash
the peppery, musky tones of exotic Eastern desserts and eras
    bygone. Sample pairing: Homemade gelato

-- Tea-Sophisticated and slightly mysterious, this infusion combines
three remarkable tea blends and highlights nuances of flower
petals and rare fruits. Sample pairing: Roasted duck

The above flavors, along with Chocolate Orange, which the company launched in November 2004, are available at select restaurants, bars and retailers throughout Los Angeles. More information about Modern Spirits vodkas, including recipes and locations, is available at www.ModernSpiritsVodka.com.
