Pinal County Establishes Partnership With TCPN

FLORENCE, Ariz. and HOUSTON, March 22, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- On April 15, 2005 Pinal County Educational Services Agency (ESA) will take over leadership for offering best value, competitively bid contracts to Arizona governmental agencies, on behalf of The Cooperative Purchasing Network (TCPN). TCPN Arizona members will see no lapse in service or ability to use TCPN contracts.

Cities, counties, school districts, colleges and universities are invited to make legally compliant purchases using TCPN contracts.

Paul Street, Ed.D., superintendent, Yavapai County Education Service Agency (YCESA), who previously coordinated the Arizona effort, is turning over the responsibility to Jack Harmon, Ed.D., superintendent, Pinal County ESA, due to his pending retirement July 1, 2005.

"TCPN customers come first," said Dr. Street, "and this will best serve governmental agencies who are purchasing items and services through TCPN."

Dr. Harmon is excited about the new relationship and the benefit that Pinal County ESA will provide to governmental agencies.

"We are thrilled that we can play a part in continuing to make TCPN commodities and services contracts available to Arizona agencies," said Dr. Harmon.

Yavapai County Education Service Agency was the first agency outside of Texas to partner with TCPN.

"We are particularly appreciative of Dr. Street's support during this time of transition," said Stuart Verdon, director, TCPN. "Because of his efforts, TCPN will be able to provide excellent service through the new partnership with Pinal County ESA."

TCPN provides competitively bid contracts from more than 100 vendors for governmental entities and educational institutions that join as members. Purchasing products and services through TCPN saves time and money by utilizing the power of cooperative purchasing. There is no membership fee to belong to TCPN; signing an interlocal agreement establishes membership.
