After Tuesday's Bell Market Commentary
On Tuesday, in a move to dampen inflation, the Federal Reserve raised the federal funds rate for the seventh time since June of last year by a quarter percentage point to 2.75 percent. U.S. stocks fell on Tuesday after the Federal Reserve raised interest rates. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 94.88 points, or 0.6 percent, at 10,470. The Nasdaq Composite Index ended the day down 18.17 points, or 0.9 percent, at 1,989.34. The S&P 500 dropped 12.07 points, or 1 percent, to 1,171.71.
