The Faith of Abraham examines different aspects of his life. Although he was called "God's friend," his life was not easy. He lived during a time when promiscuity ruled the land and monogamy was mocked. He was forced to accept the fact that his wife was sterile and could not bear him the son for which he longed, and he wandered through his days without a role model to follow. Despite his hardships, with patience and faith he endured and was granted the things he wanted. However, even after he was given a son, Isaac, God ordered Abraham to sacrifice him. Although brokenhearted, Abraham complied. The request was another of God's tests, however, and the boy was spared.
Through the stories in The Faith of Abraham, readers realize that life is not always easy, but with faith and hope in God's wisdom, all hardships can be conquered.
