The Faith of Abraham -- Biblical Life Shows How People Can Easily Conquer Life's Obstacles

ALTADENA, Calif., March 24, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Abraham is often regarded as the father of many nations in both Judaism and Christianity, but as a friend of God, things are not always easy. According to E. Macedo, author of the new book, "The Faith of Abraham" (now available through AuthorHouse), it takes hope to conquer life's obstacles, which anyone can do with the right relationship with God.

Macedo examines the life of Abraham and its symbolic significance within the religious texts of the Bible and the Torah. Moreover, he clarifies "a very important point about Abraham, his relationship with God and his commitment to receive God's promises." The book gives readers a better understanding of how Abraham or anyone can use their faith and obedience before God to conquer life's obstacles.

The Faith of Abraham examines different aspects of his life. Although he was called "God's friend," his life was not easy. He lived during a time when promiscuity ruled the land and monogamy was mocked. He was forced to accept the fact that his wife was sterile and could not bear him the son for which he longed, and he wandered through his days without a role model to follow. Despite his hardships, with patience and faith he endured and was granted the things he wanted. However, even after he was given a son, Isaac, God ordered Abraham to sacrifice him. Although brokenhearted, Abraham complied. The request was another of God's tests, however, and the boy was spared.

Through the stories in The Faith of Abraham, readers realize that life is not always easy, but with faith and hope in God's wisdom, all hardships can be conquered.

Born in a small city near Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Macedo says he had a profound encounter with God when he was a teenager that changed his life completely. "After being filled with the Holy Spirit, I felt a strong desire to share this experience with everybody," he says. Combining his experiences with the feelings he takes away from years of a happy and solid marriage, he pens honest accounts of faith that help those searching for direction find their way.
