Crossing 'The Mystic Bridge' -- Author Opens Readers' Eyes to New Understanding of Purpose, Freedom

FULTON, N.Y., April 1, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- As people move along life's winding road, many realize that reality is a complex construction of concepts and consciousness. Andrew Jacobson wants people to also see the beauty of this realm, which he expresses in his new collection of prose and poetry, The Mystic Bridge (now available through AuthorHouse).

"Life is clouded in the mist of our own perceptions. By exposing the mist and removing the veil we bring into clearer focus the destiny laid before us by our own thoughts, attitudes and actions," Jacobson says.

More than eight years in the making, The Mystic Bridge is a collection that reflects the profound understanding of the things that make up modern society. Jacobson says his book tries to reveal the hidden things which he feels lie within every human being. The Mystic Bridge takes people across the river of life, from the shore of what they know to the other side of what they should understand. Born from a life of rich experience and introspection, Jacobson's perceptions offer a world in which people discover a unity of purpose. Through this idea, they are able to find freedom, according to the author.

"Through the reading of The Mystic Bridge, one can glimpse the changing of attitudes that transform the caterpillar mind into the butterfly mind. When this happens, God, love and life meld into a kaleidoscope of understanding to make life a precious gem," Jacobson says.

He believes everyone is a jewel, and once people "remove all the dirt and grime of selfish desires and fear," they can see the brilliant sparkle hiding underneath. In his poem "Tempest," he brings people closer to the truth as the veil is lifted from their eyes:

The midnight rain falls in torrents/ Lashing powerful gusts of wind howl/ Like thunder from blasts of warships/ That sends the average man to cowl/ Behind quivering of blue lips/ This lack of courage does warrant/ A new look to the side of heart/ Where stirs the being something more/ Where pledges life a bran new start/ A knowing of inner core

For those who feel their lives lack purpose, The Mystic Bridge carries them over a river of doubt to a new realm where they realize they are really diamonds in the rough.

A former onion farmer from Upstate New York, Jacobson says he has always seen things differently. He believes "we are all a fragment of the phantasm of this life that we belong to and also belongs to us." The Mystic Bridge is his first book.
