Peer-to-Peer Format Preferred for Executive Level Education

DURHAM, N.C., April 12, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Continuing education and other types of professional development are what keep careers thriving and make business and process improvements possible. However, training executives and their staff members at the same time and in the same place can be difficult due to differing needs, management responsibilities, and confidentiality concerns.

These concerns are the main reasons that the Insurance Accounting & Systems Association (IASA) designed the IASA Executive Education Program. This educational initiative provides content targeted specifically to the needs of senior financial and technology insurance company executives for peer-to-peer education and networking opportunities. The events presented through the Executive Education Program include executive level roundtables and other focused seminars open exclusively to specific executives from insurance companies.

"IASA has spent more than 75 years serving the education needs of all insurance industry professionals," said Joe Pomilia, Executive Director for IASA. "But in the last several years, our members have told us that they need more training for their top executives. Since IASA's mission has always been `progress through sharing knowledge,' no other organization is currently better positioned to help C-level executives respond to the challenges they face every day than IASA."

At the 2005 IASA Annual Conference & Business Show in Anaheim, California, the Executive Education Program will offer both a CFO and a CIO Roundtable event. These "by invitation only" events are open only to insurance company executives with the title of "chief financial officer" and "chief information officer" respectively.

"The initial IASA CFO Roundtable offering was a valuable and interesting day of topics targeted exclusively to CFOs," said Spencer L. Francis, CPA, CLU, ChFC, FLMI, Vice President & Chief Risk Officer - NGL Insurance Group. "In addition, it provided an opportunity to meet and network with a number of other CFOs that I had not previously encountered at other industry CFO forums."
