Eastmain Retains P & E Mining Consultants Inc. for Clearwater Economic Assessment


TORONTO, April 14, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Eastmain Resources Inc. (TSX:ER) is pleased to announce that it has retained the firm of P & E Mining Consultants Inc. for the purposes of an in-house preliminary economic assessment of the Eau Claire gold deposit. P & E will review the Company's existing geologic database and interpretation of the Clearwater project with respect to the feasibility of proceeding to the next phase of exploration or development. P & E Mining and its qualified metallurgical associates will also make recommendations, based on their review of Eastmain data, for the development of a bulk sampling program and will assist in procuring a suitable mining contractor. It is anticipated that upon completion of the bulk sampling program, Eastmain will retain P & E to proceed with an NI 43-101 compliant preliminary economic analysis (scoping study) for Eau Claire.

Mr. Eugene Puritch, P.Eng and Wayne Ewert, PhD. P.Geo, the principals of P & E Mining, have a combined 60 years experience in the mineral industry. Mr. Puritch is a specialist in 3D-geological modeling and mine design with extensive global experience in engineering and operations of both open-pit and underground mines. Dr. Ewert is an economic/exploration geologist with comprehensive experience in project generation and development. Dr. Ewert has supervised a number of successful gold and base metal exploration programs worldwide.

P & E Mining Consultants Inc. has provided independent resource estimates, scoping and feasibility studies for a number of mining companies and professional clients including A.C.A. Howe International Ltd, Aker Kvaerner, Golder Associates, Micon International and Strathcona Mineral Services Ltd.
