Buffalo Technology to Offer Next Generation Wireless Solutions With True MIMO by Airgo

The Latest Additions to Buffalo's Award-Winning Line of Wireless Networking Solutions Promise to Enhance the User Experience with Superior Throughput Speeds, Extended Range and Increased Reliability

AUSTIN, Texas, April 25, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of wired and wireless networking, storage and memory solutions today announced it has partnered with Airgo(tm) Networks and has expanded its product line to include a True MIMOTM router and notebook adapter. The AirStation MIMO Wireless Cable/DSL Router (WZR-G108) and the AirStation MIMO Wireless Notebook Adapter (WLI-CB-G108) will provide customers with unsurpassed performance and the most advanced wireless technology available on the market today.

MIMO (Multiple In, Multiple Out) utilizes multiple antennas to transmit and receive multiple wireless signals simultaneously, resulting in faster wireless performance, extended range and more reliability than with other wireless networking solutions. MIMO is the foundation for the soon-to-be ratified 802.11n standard for next-generation Wi-Fi(r). With MIMO, users experience wireless throughput speeds that are up to 8x faster and an extended range of up to 3x further than conventional wireless solutions.

"Providing high performance, forward-thinking solutions to our customers is something we always strive to do," stated Morikazu Sano, vice president of product marketing and public relations. "We have built a foundation on product performance and reliability, and our new MIMO router and card provides just that. Add in affordability and ease-of-use and these products are the perfect solution for anyone seeking the next best thing in wireless networking."

"Airgo is extremely pleased to be working with Buffalo as a True MIMO branded partner. As a leading global wireless equipment provider, Buffalo is dedicated to providing home and business users with the world's best wireless networking technology," said Greg Raleigh, CEO and president of Airgo Networks. "Buffalo's new line of AirStation MIMO products delivers the significant performance advantages of True MIMO, enabling more consumers to experience new applications and freedom of connectivity that reaches well beyond the limits of conventional wireless."

The AirStation MIMO router offers optimized LAN/WAN routing with fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) for 98.7Mpbs of wired throughput and a built-in 4-port 10/100 Ethernet switch. Both the router and the notebook adapter feature Buffalo's patent-pending ease-of-use technology, AirStation One-Touch Secure System(tm) (AOSS), which allows users to install and configure Buffalo's wireless devices along with wireless security with the push of a button and click of a mouse.

Both the router and the adapter include advanced security features such as WPA (TKIP and AES), 64-bit and 128-bit WEP and MAC Address filtering. The AirStation router features Buffalo's own Intrusion Detector, which automatically notifies users if an attack has been attempted on their network.

Backed by a limited two-year warranty and toll-free 24/7 technical support, the AirStation MIMO Wireless Cable/DSL Router (WZR-G108) and the AirStation MIMO Wireless Notebook Adapter (WLI-CB-G108) will be available in mid-May at estimated street prices of $189 for the router and $119 for the notebook adapter.
