Northrop Grumman Highlights Transportation Solutions and Traffic Management Systems at Annual Expo

PHOENIX, April 29, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) will highlight its advanced vehicle-imaging technology, regional traffic management systems and other public safety solutions during the 2005 Intelligent Transportation Society of America's Meeting and Exposition May 2-4 at the Phoenix Civic Plaza Convention Center.

Northrop Grumman's Information Technology sector will showcase its vehicle-imaging technology -- an under-vehicle inspection system integrated with the company's license-plate reader that provides safety and efficiency whenever vehicle inspection and identification are critical for operations. The demonstration will also show how a radio frequency identification system works in tandem with the company's license-plate reader to monitor vehicles, driver identification and access.

As in many industries today, the Web has become a powerful tool for providing real-time roadway data to the traveling public. Northrop Grumman will demonstrate its smart transportation customer Web site in conjunction with the Traffic Response and Incident Management Assisting River Cities program in Louisville, Ky., and the Hudson Valley Traveler in Westchester, N.Y. These award-winning solutions have improved traffic safety and management by providing travelers with a convenient portal to traffic information in their communities.

In addition, the company's Mission Systems sector will demonstrate the TouchTable, a projection display set on a seven-foot diagonal surface. The tabletop display facilitates viewing and manipulation of complex data, such as geographic information, that cannot readily be represented on a standard computer display. The TouchTable is designed to enhance collaboration and provide an intuitive interface to complex applications. Using only their hands, users can manipulate images and data displayed on the table.
