Enormous Indoor Bazaar to Benefit Furkids, Local Animal Rescue Group

MEDIA ADVISORY, ATLANTA, May 5, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- One of Atlanta's largest animal rescue organizations, Furkids Inc., will host its fourth annual Cat's Meow Marketplace from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on May 14 and 15 at the former Harris Teeter location in the Sandy Springs Target shopping center. Serious shoppers may gain early entry to the sale by arriving at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and paying a $5 admission fee.

"We are excited to present our largest sale ever and look forward to welcoming shoppers in a new, bigger and more convenient location," said Samantha Shelton, founder and executive director of Furkids. "The sale is a must attend for anyone who wants to help a deserving animal charity or just wants to find a great bargain."

The goal of the sale is to raise $30,000 to help complete construction on the shelter in Gwinnett County. Items available at the Cat's Meow Marketplace range from collectables and brand-new designer clothing, to the unusual and unique. There will also be books, household items and furniture, antiques, appliances, holiday and gift items, homemade goodies and, of course, pet-related items.

All proceeds from the Cat's Meow Marketplace go directly toward construction expenses for the newly-acquired Furkids shelter and providing care for cats awaiting adoption. All donations are tax-deductible.

When completed, the shelter, conveniently located about one mile outside I-285 off Buford Highway, will contain approximately 5,000 square feet of space. This cage-free facility will house the majority of the 200-plus cats and kittens currently being fostered by Furkids' volunteers.

Founded in 2002, Furkids Inc. is a 501 (c) 3 animal rescue organization and no-kill, cage-free shelter located near Doraville, Ga. Run by a volunteer staff, its mission is to find loving, life-long homes for abandoned cats and kittens. Furkids also promotes public awareness regarding the value of pets, animal welfare, pet overpopulation and quality human-animal companionship. In their three years of operation, they have rescued more than 1,000 animals and have more than 800 successful adoptions to their credit. Furkids is not connected with any government agency and therefore, is completely dependent upon adoption fees and tax-deductible donations. Visit www.furkids.org for more information.
