New Children's Book Addresses Sibling Rivalry Through a Fun, Exciting Story

WASHINGTON, May 5, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Anger and jealousy affect good judgment. It even got one little elephant in big trouble. In the fascinating new book, The Adventures of Tusky and His Friends: Tusky's Big Decision, Kenneth R. Greenberg, Ph.D., tells an amazing adventure of Tusky and the life-changing lessons he learned along the way.

Tusky's Big Decision is an educational picture-storybook dealing with sibling rivalry and the dangers of making impulsive decisions. Tusky, a little elephant, is jealous of his sister and feels that his parents love her more than they love him. So he makes the big decision to run away from home. Rejecting the advice of his friends, he makes the mistake of talking to a stranger and is kidnapped. With the help of Hooty, a very wise owl, he escapes the threatening clutches of his kidnapper. Later, Hooty also helps him overcome feeling jealous of his sister. When Tusky gets home, he discovers a big surprise.

"Tusky's Big Decision is a 'Snuggle-Up' and read-to storybook for children aged four to six. The child is encouraged to interact with the reader over stimulating questions following each chapter directed at the child's experiences and feelings," says Greenberg. Here, the author creates a positive role model through Tusky's character, brings to light the problem posed by sibling rivalry and the ways it can be addressed.
