LAX Receives Explosive Detection Trace Portal


MEDIA ADVISORY, May 11, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- TSA officials will be available for one-on-one interviews and will provide a demonstration of the new explosive detection trace portal recently deployed to LAX.

The deployment of a trace portal at LAX is part of a pilot program intended to test the use of the machines in different environments across the country. At the conclusion of the pilot, TSA will evaluate the results and decide whether to deploy the machines nationwide.

         Security Checkpoint

NOTE: All members of the media will be required to go through security checkpoint screening. Please be prepared for screening and leave all prohibited items in your vehicle. For a list of prohibited items, please visit www.tsa.gov.

Media credentials will be checked prior to entering the security checkpoint.

PARKING: Broadcast-equipped media vehicles ONLY may park between Terminals 1 and 2 on the Upper/Departure Level Roadway. Media parked curbside must be attended at all times. Unattended media vans may park in Vendor Lots 3, 4 or 6. All other media must park in structures and parking will be validated.
