Buffalo Technology Enhances Network Storage With The Gigabit LinkStation

The Latest Addition to Buffalo's Award-Winning Line of Network Storage Solutions Combines Enriched Features and Superior Performance with Affordability and Simplicity

AUSTIN, Texas, May 23, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of wired and wireless networking, storage and memory solutions today announced it has added a Gigabit version of the LinkStation Network Storage Center to its multiple award-winning line of network storage solutions. The device will be available in capacities of 160GB (HD-HG160LAN), 250GB (HD-HG250LAN), 300GB (HD-HG300LAN) and 400GB (HD-HG400LAN).

Buffalo's new Gigabit LinkStation devices allow home and business users to easily add high-performance network storage while providing 10/100/1000 Mbps LAN connections. It is also the only solution of its kind that allows users to backup data from one Gigabit LinkStation to another over the network.

"With the advent of the digital age, users are increasingly downloading music, videos, photos and using advanced entertainment technologies like network media players and digital recording devices. This is why more consumers are adopting business-class network solutions into their home environment," stated Morikazu Sano, vice president of product marketing and public relations. "The Gigabit LinkStation is the perfect fit for this type of environment and the ideal solution for these types of customers. It offers a robust feature-set and powerful performance yet is very easy-to-use and highly affordable."

The Gigabit LinkStation Network Storage Center is a pre-formatted network storage device that features a 10/100/1000 Base-T Gigabit Ethernet port and Jumbo Frame technology. Jumbo Frame allows for higher transfer speeds than standard Gigabit networks by increasing the packet size of the Ethernet traffic.

The LinkStation is compatible with Windows, Linux and Macintosh. The product includes a built-in USB print server so users can share a network printer. The product also features a file server so users can share files across their network. The LinkStation includes an FTP server function, which allows users to access and transfer data from any machine with Internet connectivity. The LinkStation also features PCast support for multi-media streaming to Buffalo's High Definition Wireless Media Player (PC-P3WG/DVD) or any device that includes PCast technology. PCast technology allows users to retrieve multi-media content from the LinkStation and play it through the LinkTheater without the need of a computer or user intervention.

Users can protect precious data by restricting access with group and user level security. The LinkStation features two USB 2.0 ports and provides expandable USB storage options. The solution features Memeo(tm) backup software as well as Buffalo's own backup utility. Users can schedule and customize additional backup and data protection via USB to external storage. The product's minimal power consumption, silent operation and aesthetic, compact design make the LinkStation the perfect storage solution for any network environment.

Backed by a limited one-year warranty and toll-free 24/7 technical support, the Gigabit LinkStation Network Storage Center will be available at the end of May at estimated street prices of $369 for the 160GB (HD-HG160LAN), $469 for the 250GB (HD-HG250LAN), $569 for the 300GB (HD-HG300LAN) and $699 for the 400GB (HD-HG400LAN).
