The Journey to Find the Chocolate River -- Two Friends Share Adventure in New Children's Book

ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 24, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Sometimes children just have to learn things for themselves, even if that child is an elephant. Coco LaBon takes readers on a journey into the jungle with her new children's book, The Legend of the Chocolate River (now available through AuthorHouse).

Set in an imaginary jungle, the book, colorfully illustrated by Raymond Faison, follows the adventure of a baby elephant named Manda and his best friend, Mr. Crowley, an old wise frog. The two have been best friends for a long time, and the wise frog often helps his young friend to steer clear of trouble. However, one day Manda decides he wants chocolate and a little adventure. He decides that they should venture into the jungle to find the fabled chocolate river.

Although Mr. Crowley explains it is only a legend, and no one has ever returned from the dangerous journey, Manda is stubborn and hungry for chocolate. Being much smaller, Mr. Crowley can only ride on Manda's back and try to help him find the safe passages to the river. The road to the legendary river is full of danger and takes them right into the clutches of Big Alex, a ferocious alligator who lives in Skeleton River. Mr. Crowley and Manda may make it to the chocolate river, but they are not ready for the deadly surprise that waits for them there.

An imaginative story with a valuable lesson, The Legend of the Chocolate River is a fun story full of surprises and loads of yummy chocolate.

LaBon grew up in Little Rock, Ark., and began writing stories around the age of 8. She earned a bachelor's degree in radio, television and film production from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She lives in the Washington, D.C., area and has worked for various organizations in public relations, television production and government, including four years as a political appointee in federal law enforcement for the Clinton administration. A licensed Realtor, she currently works for a defense contractor. The Legend of the Chocolate River is her first book.
