Headrick Appointed President and CEO of Sysco Food Services of Raleigh, LLC


HOUSTON, June 2, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- SYSCO Corporation (NYSE:SYY) announced today that Michael S. Headrick has been named president and chief executive officer of Sysco Food Services of Raleigh, LLC, a broadline foodservice distribution subsidiary that will open in Raleigh, North Carolina in the fall of 2005. Mr. Headrick, who currently serves as president and chief executive officer of SYSCO's Jackson, Mississippi operation, will assume his new duties on July 3, 2005, the start of SYSCO's fiscal year 2006.

Mr. Headrick, 56, began his SYSCO career in 1978 as a staff accountant at the company's Nashville, Tennessee operation. He advanced to controller in 1980, then vice president of finance in 1987, and in 1989 he became senior vice president of finance and administration. Mr. Headrick transferred to SYSCO's Miami operating company in 1993 as senior vice president of finance and operations, then progressed to executive vice president of that company in 1997. In 2000 he was named executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Jackson operation and the following year he was appointed to his current position.

A native of Nashville, Tenn., Mr. Headrick earned a bachelor of business administration degree in accounting in 1976 from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, and in 1983 he earned a master of business administration degree from Tennessee State University in Nashville. He and his wife, Esther, have a grown daughter and reside in Jackson.

Sysco Food Services of Raleigh, LLC is a broadline fold-out operation under construction in Raleigh, North Carolina. The company will provide products and services to foodservice operations including restaurants, country clubs, healthcare and educational institutions, business and industry locations, lodging establishments, multi-unit chain accounts and other foodservice operations throughout eastern North Carolina.
