Futris Named President and COO of Sysco Food Services of Jackson, LLC


HOUSTON, June 2, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- SYSCO Corporation (NYSE:SYY) announced today that George A. Futris has been named president and chief operating officer of Sysco Food Services of Jackson, LLC, a broadline foodservice distribution subsidiary located in Jackson, Mississippi. Mr. Futris, who currently serves as executive vice president of that company, will assume his new duties on July 3, 2005, the start of SYSCO's fiscal year 2006.

Mr. Futris, 53, joined SYSCO in 1982 as a marketing associate at the company's Memphis, Tennessee operation and was named center of the plate specialist in 1986. He advanced to SYSCO Brand manager in 1987, was promoted to district sales manager in 1989 and was named territory sales manager in 1991. Mr. Futris advanced to regional vice president of sales for the Memphis subsidiary in 1995 before transferring to the Jackson, Mississippi, operation in 1998 as vice president of sales. In 2002 he was promoted to senior vice president of sales and the following year he was appointed to his current position.

Mr. Futris is a native of Memphis and a 1975 graduate of Memphis State University, where he earned a bachelor of business administration degree in marketing. He and his wife, Linda, reside in Jackson.
