EMS SATCOM Introduces New Fleet 55 Interactive Installation Video

Already Easy to Install; Video Makes Maritime Communications System Do-It-Yourself

LILLESTROM, Norway, June 7, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Nor-Shipping 2005 -- EMS SATCOM, a division of EMS Technologies (Nasdaq:ELMG), announced today that it has launched a new interactive video for installing the company's Fleet 55 satellite marine communication terminal. The interactive video, an innovation in marine customer service, is aimed at giving dealers and end users the tools and confidence to easily complete a quality installation of the Fleet 55 terminal.

"We find EMS SATCOM an innovative company and a significant player in the satellite equipment business. We are both excited and confident about working with EMS SATCOM," said Thois Themistocleous, product development manager at One Net Ltd., based in Cyprus. "As a provider of Fleet 55 terminals around the globe, we must be able to provide quality products accompanied by reliable technical and after-sales support. EMS SATCOM provided these two important ingredients to us by releasing an interactive training video. It will assist us tremendously in setting up our expanding network, as well as helping our end users, including ship owners and captains, understand the many benefits of the EMS SATCOM Fleet 55 system, such as its ease of use."

The new interactive video contains a variety of information and a step-by-step "how-to" section that allows dealers and end users alike to install the Fleet 55 terminal to get high-speed data communications capability aboard their vessels. Inmarsat's recent switch-over from its I-3 satellites to its I-4 satellites has extended its coverage footprint over the Indian Ocean. As a result, Fleet 55 users can expect increased coverage. EMS SATCOM's Fleet 55 offers users e-mail, virtual private network (VPN) access, videoconferencing and fax capabilities, as well as high data-rate uploads and downloads, virtually anywhere in the world.

Nils Helle, director of Marketing, EMS SATCOM, said, "By introducing this video, we are enabling dealers and end users to easily install the Fleet 55 aboard their vessels. More than this, though, our customers will benefit from high-speed data services while at sea, around the globe."

More about the Fleet 55 Interactive Installation CD

The interactive CD is available only from EMS SATCOM. It has comprehensive instructions, in a video format, for installing the Fleet 55 terminal, and also allows the user to pause and review each step, or skip from instruction to instruction to get the information they need, when they need it.

More about EMS SATCOM's Fleet 55 Satellite Communication Terminal EMS SATCOM's Fleet 55 provides 64 Kbps ISDN connectivity at sea. The terminal, a power supply, and a high-performance maritime stabilized antenna together enable users to send and receive e-mail, to have secure access to VPNs, to transfer data and pictures, and to run live video conferencing, all at 64 Kbps, or to send faxes at 14.4 kbps. The Fleet 55 also supports Inmarsat's popular Mobile Packet Data Service (MPDS). An "always connected" service, MPDS is suitable for Web browsing and e-mail. It is cost-effective for small data transfers as it is billed by the Mbit and not by connect time. A compact solution, the Fleet 55 is easy to install and requires no expensive cranes.
