Pictures Worth a Thousand Words -- New Book Offers Compilation of Stunning Photos

CARROLLTON, Texas, June 9, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Photograph albums hold stories that transcend ages. Grandma Rosa's Picture Book: Travelogue of Christian Antiquity (now available through AuthorHouse), by J. Wilbur Osborn, offers readers a tale of Italian history and chronicles important religious events through incredible works of art and structural masterpieces caught on film.

"My book is really an album of more than 200 pictures ... that I wished to share with others," writes Osborn. For the majority of the book, he immerses readers in the rich culture of Rome through sepia images taken circa 1930. These fascinating photographs include landscapes, ruins, buildings, bridges and museums. Many of the pictures capture art works in galleries around Vatican City and the exquisite churches located there.

Grandma Rosa's Picture Book also offers readers an array of visual delights collected from a Greek Bible. These display the unique method of picture printing of 1880, the year the book was published. "There were many full page engravings in both Testaments, and I was amazed by the total volume when compared to antique American Bibles," writes Osborn. Included in his compiled images are revered and infamous biblical women, such as Isaac's wife, Rebekah, and the evil idolater, Jezebel, who is shown in a chilling depiction of her gruesome demise.

A veritable feast for art lovers everywhere, Grandma Rosa's Picture Book stirs wanderlust and a sense of spiritual awe through its intricate portrayals of some of the Bible's most famous figures.

Known as "Jim" to his family and friends, Osborn is a World War II veteran. He worked in the nuclear energy field for 38 years. He is currently retired from the industry and spends his time teaching and researching the mysteries of the quantum theory of matter creation. He and his late wife, Muriel, have three sons, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Grandma Rosa's Picture Book is his first published work. He is currently working on his second, Basic Quantum Theory.
