New Palm Sized GPS Navigation System Comes Complete With 2.5 GB Hard Disk Drive, MP3 Player, and Much More

No Downloading of Maps Is Necessary -- Just Turn it On and Go

FREMONT, Calif., June 13, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Mio Technology Ltd., a leading worldwide supplier of mobile devices, today introduced the Mio 269 GPS navigation system to North America as part of a worldwide launch. The new device is a straightforward, easy-to-use GPS navigation system combined with seamless, detailed maps of the Continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii and Canada in a sleek, palm-sized chassis. The Mio 269 is designed entirely for ease of use -- all software and maps are already included on the unit's 2.5 GB hard disk drive, so it's ready to go right out of the box.

A downloadable 300dpi high-resolution photo of the Mio 269 is available on the World Wide Web at http://www.seeyouinprint.com/mio/269.jpg.

Requiring no setup fees or monthly charges, the Mio 269 is a perfect aftermarket alternative to today's expensive built-in automotive GPS systems. Powered by an Intel(r) 300 MHz CPU, the unit provides both visual and verbal directions to the user's destination using an extra sensitive GPS receiver and maps stored on the hard disk drive. Over a million points of interest (POI), including airports, ATMs, restaurants, gas stations, lodging and tourist attractions are also pre-installed. By simply selecting preprogrammed locations such as the office, home or customer, the user can get directions to any destination with a simple click. Simply select a destination by Address, Points of Interest, My Favorites or History, click "Navigate" and go.

In addition to the pre-loaded hard disk drive and GPS navigation, the Mio 269 allows users to listen to music on its high-quality MP3 player. The hard drive provides 1/2 GB free storage for MP3 files for over 4 1/2 hours worth of music and a SD and MM3 card slot, with capacity up to 1 GB of additional MP3 storage. Play lists and songs can be loaded via the USB port.

Other Mio 269 features include a fully integrated GPS antenna, rechargeable Lithium Ion battery that allows up to 4.5 hours of untethered operation on a single charge, 3.5" color display, 32 MB flash ROM and 64 MB SDRAM, touch screen keyboard (stylus pen), built-in 1" loudspeaker, headphone jack, infrared remote control, and for the ultimate in mobility, mounting hardware for automobiles and bikes. The Mio 269's compact size -- 5 1/2" long, 3" wide and 1" thick -- allows it to fit into the user's pocket. It weighs just 8 ounces. Accessories include earphones for the MP3 player, universal AC and car adapters with changeable plugs, USB cable, and carrying case. No extra accessories are needed.

Whether on foot, in a car or on a bicycle, getting around in unfamiliar areas or finding alternative routes due to changing circumstances or conditions couldn't be easier. The user simply selects the town, road and address, and the Mio 269 does the rest. The Mio 269 can also be used to plan longer trips with multiple stops in advance. Maps are displayed in landscape view on a 3.5" TFT touch screen LCD and in 2D or 3D. In the 3D view, users have a better grasp of what lies ahead, including landmarks, road conditions and POI compared to a two dimensional map. If the user misses a turn, exit or cannot make a transition in time, the device automatically recalculates the route and delivers new directions in real-time. The Mio 269 is also adept at helping users avoid problems like road construction zones, traffic jams and toll roads.
