The 2005 Hispanic Fiesta, Part of the PECO Energy Multicultural Series

A Weekend of Hispanic Heritage at Penn's Landing


PHILADELPHIA, June 14, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Celebrate the twenty-sixth anniversary of the Hispanic Fiesta with authentic entertainment, crafts and cuisine, Saturday, July 9 and Sunday, July 10, 2005, from Noon until 8 p.m. The Hispanic Fiesta, part of the PECO Energy Multicultural Series, will take place at the Great Plaza at Penn's Landing at Columbus Boulevard and Chestnut Street. The PECO Multicultural Series is ten different culturally rich festivals that take place throughout the summer season at Penn's Landing and these FREE events are made possible by the Penn's Landing 2005 Summer Season sponsor, Independence Blue Cross.

This year, the Hispanic Fiesta will feature two exciting days packed with music, dance, and Latin American cuisine. Salsa legends Lebron Brothers Orchestra will headline on Saturday from 7:00 to 8:00 pm, and the famous salsa band Son de Cali will headline on Sunday from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. Other artists featured at this year's Fiesta will include: Yerbabuena, Domenic M., K Company, Pablo Perez Project, Amarfis y su Banda de Atakke, Grupo Fuego, Muevete and many others.

In addition to the music of mariachi, salsa, bachata, merengue, samba, and boleros, and a little Latin R&B, the Fiesta will showcase artisan crafts and authentic foods from Puerto Rico, Cuba, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Colombia, and other parts of Latin America.

This free event, presented by PECO Energy and the Council of Spanish Speaking Organizations (Concilio) is one of the many cultural events of the Philadelphia Puerto Rican Festival. This Festival, now in its forty-third year, works to publicize the importance of the Latino culture and the contribution of the Hispanic community to the Philadelphia region.

Admission is free for all PECO Energy Multicultural Series events. PECO Energy presents a series of free Multicultural festivals throughout the summer season at the Great Plaza at Penn's Landing.
