Semcon Continues International Expansion Setting Up Company and Design Office in Hungary

GOTEBORG, Sweden, June 16, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Semcon is continuing its international expansion and setting up a new design office in Budapest, Hungary. Positions were initially offered within Semcon's Design & Development and Informatic business areas, and ten consultants have already been employed.

"This is yet another important step in our international expansion strategy and to be where our customers have their development business," says CEO Hans Johansson. "Setting up in Hungary also means that we can quickly meet our customers' requirements for specialist solutions at an even more attractive price. This will be a complement to the rest of our range. Our first customer contract has been signed in the auto industry."

Why Hungary?

Hungary has a long engineering tradition and there is a major resource of experienced engineers with specialist skills. A number of global auto manufacturers and subcontractors are also established in the region, with design and development centres and production facilities. These manufacturers include: Audi, Skoda (VW), Nabi, Visteon, Autoliv, Bosch, Lear Corp., Raba, Siemens and Johnsson Control. There is also a sound infrastructure and the Hungarians have a good understanding of English. Furthermore, costs are between 40-50 percent lower than in Western Europe. Setting up there is part of our strategy for expansion in providing our customers with the best alternative for product development.
