Metso to Supply Board Machine Rebuilds to St Regis Paper Company in the UK


HELSINKI, Finland, June 20, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Metso Paper will supply equipment for board machine rebuilds to St Regis Paper Company at its Kemsley and Wansbrough mills in the UK. The delivery also includes a support package for plasterboard production development. The total value of the contract will exceed EUR 7 million.

The Kemsley PM 3 rebuild includes three new headboxes, one of which is equipped with a dilution control system for profile control, modernization of the fourdrinier wire section, as well as approach flow screens for the short circulation system. The 6-metre-wide machine produces plasterboard and testliner. The modification will be completed in mid 2006.

PM 5 of the Wansbrough mill in Watchet, Somerset, will be equipped with a new dilution controlled headbox, a shaker for the breast roll, as well as a screen for the dilution circulation system. The new equipment will be installed in early 2006. After the rebuild, the Wansbrough PM 5 will continue to produce coreboard and testliner whilst being a contingency production unit for plasterboard.
