Added for 2005 Summer Season at Penn's Landing Free Concert Series Celebrating Rhythm and Blues Music Starts July 8, 2005


PHILADELPHIA, June 27, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Get ready for the smooth sounds of Rhythm and Blues at Penn's Landing. The 2005 Summer season at Penn's Landing presents a new addition, a free concert series featuring R&B music. The series kicks off on July 8, 2005 and continues for four consecutive Fridays and like the rest of the season at Penn's Landing, this concert series will be FREE for all who attend. The performers will take the stage at 7:00 p.m. and each week will highlight a specific R&B theme.

The Sounds of R&B Series at Penn's Landing begins with the Sounds of Motown featuring The Renaissance Orchestra. The Renaissance Orchestra is one of the hottest bands in the Philadelphia area, and they are bringing their party to Penn's Landing! The twelve-piece orchestra delivers a powerful sound that is unparalleled and each musician has over a decade of experience in this industry. Their performance, taking place July 8 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., will celebrate the sounds of Motown.

The theme for July 15 will be the R&B Sounds of the Seventies, performed by Bill Jolly's Hard Drive. Bill Jolly's Hard Drive is made up of 10 musicians with a taste for variety; they perform everything from James Brown, to Aretha Franklin, to Chicago. Fronted by three-time Emmy award winner Bill Jolly, BJHD is the ultimate soul band and the most fun you will have all summer.

The Sound of Philadelphia, a unique blend of funky orchestral music, has dominated the rhythm and blues and pop charts for over two decades. To kick off the Penn's Landing 20th Anniversary Celebration and the third night of the series on July 22, the Sound of Philadelphia will get the masses along the Delaware Riverfront grooving. Their performance will be followed by blues legend Buddy Guy. Guy's performance will be one of the key highlights and start of the 20th Anniversary Concert Celebration weekend at Penn's Landing.

The series concludes on July 29, 2005 with the New Sound of R&B, featuring Lady Alma and Jeff Bradshaw. According to her fans, Lady Alma is considered "the heart and soul of Philadelphia's soul scene." Due to her critical acclaim, Lady Alma has become one of the biggest names in R&B. Also performing as part of the new sound of R&B theme, will be "Mr. Trombone," Jeff Bradshaw. As a songwriter, arranger, producer, and jaw-dropping trombone player Jeff Bradshaw is Philadelphia's own renaissance music man.
