Dynacraft Industries Licenses Samsung's Patented Nickel-Palladium-Gold Plating Technology


PENANG, Malaysia, June 28, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Dynacraft Industries, one of the largest manufacturers of leadframes for the semiconductor industry, announced that they recently signed a patent license and technology transfer agreement with Samsung Techwin for the Micro PPF (Pre-Plated Frame) technology. The technology gives Dynacraft the ability to provide customers with Nickel-Palladium-Gold alloy (NiPdAu-alloy) pre-plated leadframes where the Pd plating thickness is only 0.1 micro-inch minimum rather than the more conventional 0.8 micro-inches minimum. It also provides a substantially improved process capability and consistency that produces a superior level of quality and product reliability.

The agreement will allow Dynacraft the use of related patents, application and technical know-how, and associated plating equipment to manufacture leadframe products utilizing the Samsung Micro ((micro)-PPF(tm)) technology. Technical teams from both companies will transfer and install the technology and capability into the Dynacraft facility, located in Penang, Malaysia, by the end of 2005.

The advantages of the Micro ((micro)-PPF(tm)) are that it provides a cost effective solution for Pb (lead)-free requirements, it can be used for Alloy 42 leadframe-based products, and it eliminates the post-assembly solder-plating process thereby reducing the assembly cycle time as well as lowering costs.

Mr. Iain Meikle, Dynacraft's Chief Operating Officer, stated, "We have been working very closely with the Samsung team for quite some time and are convinced that by licensing this technology we can offer our customers an additional high quality, cost-effective solution for their packaging needs.
