Emulex Announces Details Related to Success of Its Channel Business

COSTA MESA, Calif., June 28, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX), the industry's preeminent source for a broad range of advanced storage networking infrastructure solutions, today announced details related to the success of its channel operations during the 3rd fiscal quarter ended March 27th 2005. Channel revenues were up over 20% when compared to those of the previous quarter, expanding to over 36% of Emulex's total revenues during the quarter. Shipments of Emulex's LP10000 and LP1050 HBA products grew to 40% of all Emulex HBAs shipped during the quarter, reflecting the success of a number of recent channel promotional programs.

"Emulex's commitment to aggressively supporting its channel partners with training, support and incentives programs is fueling the growth of our channel business and reinforcing our leadership position in the channel," said Mike Smith, executive vice president of worldwide marketing. "During the same quarter that Emulex reported record revenues across all lines of business, end user adoption of the LP10000 family of HBAs grew to account for over 40% of all HBAs shipped. We believe this accelerated adoption of our latest generation of product reflects that end users are increasingly beginning to understand the value proposition associated with our unique common driver model, and the long-term investment protection that comes from our firmware based architecture. And with our new ease-of use management tools, increased support for Linux based environments and programs like our new 'Perfect 10' channel promotion, we expect the adoption rate of LP10000 family of HBAs to increase further."

In FY'05, Emulex invested in making its distributors and resellers successful through its channel initiatives. The Company retooled its partner program, the Emulex Authorized Reseller Network (EARN), by including sales and technical training, new sales tools, presentations and exclusive promotions. Emulex promotions focused on the inflection point of the HBA sale, which is at the reseller level. In return for taking training and closing sales, resellers were rewarded with incentives through the Emulex "Sell and Win", "Dream Trip" and "Rewards" promotions. The Company's new "Perfect 10" program, focused on Emulex LP10000 and LP1050 HBAs, offers valuable channel benefits such as evaluation/demonstration units, trade-in discounts, rebates and a reseller sales incentive program.
