UnumProvident Developing Integrated, Online Enrollment System

plane.biz to Help Meet Increasing Employer Needs for Flexible Worksite Support

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn., June 28, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- UnumProvident (NYSE:UNM), a leader in supplemental benefits sold at the worksite, is developing a new web-based platform that will facilitate enrollment of most of the company's products in nearly any business environment.

This user-friendly solution, plane.biz, will be the first truly complete enrollment integration of UnumProvident's group, supplemental and multi-life disability income protection products. Importantly for employers, it will also offer support for other core products that a customer may wish to enroll. The plane.biz tool will be used during face-to-face enrollment sessions, through call centers, or by employee self-service on the Internet.

"Using plane.biz, employees will be able to enroll for benefits in the format that is most comfortable to them -- online, on the phone, or in person," said Rosalind Connor, assistant vice president of enrollment services. "This expansion of our capabilities will give our customers a high degree of flexibility, responding to the varying needs of today's diverse work environment."

In addition to being used by UnumProvident's internal enrollment entity, plane.biz will support the needs of external enrollment vendors for the sale of UnumProvident's full array of products. An ideal tool for face-to-face enrollments, plane.biz will also meet the needs of employers with multiple locations by supporting employee self-service enrollment for group and individual disability income protection, life and long term care products as well as critical illness and accident. Additional capabilities will be added through early 2006.
