Fenwick Commons, LLC, purchased the Riverwalk property in 2000 and
worked with the Boroughs of Penns Grove and Carney's Point, Salem
County and the States of New Jersey and Delaware to obtain the
necessary permits, approvals and financing. The groundbreaking on
July 19 will mark the commencement of construction on The
Riverwalk's promenade and seawall, which is being constructed by
the Borough of Penns Grove. Groundbreaking and construction of
the retail, lodging and restaurant facilities will follow shortly
thereafter. The public grand opening is scheduled for mid-2006.
The Riverwalk at Penns Grove pays homage to the rich historical
heritage of the area and is inspired by French's Hotel and picnic
grounds, which stood on the site a century ago.
