Spescom Announces New CMII Certified Configuration Management Application

Spescom Product Highly Rated by Institute of Configuration Management

SAN DIEGO, July 15, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Spescom Software Inc (OTCBB:SPCO), a leading developer of enterprise content, configuration and change management software solutions for mission-critical industrial applications, today announced that it has released eB CMII, a new application built on the eB v14 platform that complies with the CMII process model defined by the Institute of Configuration Management (ICM).

"We believe that eB is one of the most powerful tools on the market to enable the effective implementation of the CMII model by an enterprise," said Vince Guess, President, ICM. "We were very impressed with the eB CMII application, particularly with how the closed-loop diagram is used to let the user know where they are in the change process."

The CMII process model is an industry best practices framework for managing products, facilities and processes by managing the information about them, including changes, and ensuring they are what they are supposed to be in every case. The model is promoted by means of educational training, certification programs and industry events by The Institute of Configuration Management (ICM) that is headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona and is affiliated with the Arizona State University and the University of Tennessee. Courses are held throughout the USA as well as Europe, Australia and South Africa every year. Over 600 major enterprises in 26 countries have sent staff members on CMII training and certification programs and many have adopted the CMII process model for their organizations.

"We are extremely excited about our new eB CMII application and the fact that it has been certified by the ICM as CMII compliant," said Carl Mostert, CEO, Spescom Software. "As an industry leader and pioneer in our market space, Spescom is continuously looking to provide our customers with information management solutions that are innovative, cost effective and address real business needs. eB CMII is one of only a handful of products that are CMII certified. We believe that our eB CMII application sets new standards for ease-of-use and adherence to the CMII model as well as providing additional capabilities beyond what is specified by CMII."

The eB CMII application is a fully web-based tool that can easily be deployed throughout an organization to manage information about its products, facilities and processes. It enables any user to initiate requests for change to products, facilities or processes and incorporates an automated change management process that ensures that the impact of these changes on cost, schedule, safety, quality, profit or environment are fully assessed and that approved changes are effectively communicated and implemented. The application includes a graphical representation of the CMII process that facilitates ease of use by showing users exactly where any change is in the process at any point in time. It also provides rapid access to all product data and related documents including proposed changes in a clear and concise baseline report.

eB CMII combines powerful configuration and change management capabilities with document, records and work management capabilities to ensure the delivery of quality products and services by an enterprise. It is built on the eB v14 platform based on the Microsoft .NET framework. This modern service oriented architecture provides a highly flexible and scalable environment ensuring enterprise deployment and high availability as well as ease of data exchange and integration with other business systems.
