EMS Technologies Delivers DVB-RCS Hub to HELLAS-SAT

MONTREAL, July 20, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- EMS Satellite Networks (SatNet), a division of EMS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:ELMG), announced today that it has delivered and installed a DVB-RCS redundant hub to HELLAS SAT Consortium Ltd., the eastern Mediterranean's leading satellite operator. EMS has installed the hub to Hellas-Sat in Athens, Greece, the location of the company's teleport and direct-to-home TV platform.

"There is a great demand in Greece, the Balkans and the Middle East for broadband connectivity, driven by the prevalence of small islands and other remote areas in these regions. DVB-RCS is the standard embraced by Europe, including Greece, which is the newest member of the European Space Agency. For us, it was easy to entrust our connectivity needs to EMS Technologies, the market leader in DVB-RCS solutions," says Christodoulos Protopapas, CEO of HELLAS SAT. "We plan to use the hub to provide high-speed video, audio and Internet connectivity to schools, governments, businesses and hospitals in rural areas."

EMS's DVB-RCS hub can support thousands of terminals, and HELLAS SAT plans to grow the system as requirements increase. "We are honored to work with HELLAS SAT as they look to provide the best broadband services to customers throughout Greece, the Balkans and the Middle East," said Don Osborne, senior vice president and general manager, EMS Satellite Networks. "HELLAS SAT's confidence in our solutions reflects our continued market leadership in open-standard, two-way DVB-RCS satellite communications equipment."
