VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) is a technological innovation for making and receiving phone calls utilizing the Internet. This innovation enables users to dramatically reduce telephone costs associated with making long distance calls.
Wi-Fi takes the VoIP concept one step further, giving users the ability to make calls over the Internet using a wireless phone. The importance of this test demonstrates Y-Tel has the ability to deploy a mesh network capable of transmitting voice utilizing Wi-Fi. The test results also demonstrate the usual number of repeaters normally utilized in this type of network, can be reduced from 20 to 6 per square mile of coverage, significantly reducing the cost and time necessary for a full network deployment.
Y-Tel can now deploy a Mesh Network developed for VoIP anywhere in the world. The Company has been developing the infrastructure to support VoIP and Wi-Fi products targeted at carriers and distributors. These MESH nodes are an important part of a service offering where a last mile solution is needed.
The size of the Wi-Fi Mesh Network for VoIP can range from 1 to 100 square miles using these new high powered, long range repeaters, reaching distances Wi-Fi phones have not been able to successfully connect before.
