SSIMED's EMR To Utilize Cerner Multum Drug, Herbal and Nutraceutical Database

WINDSOR, Conn., July 26, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- SSIMED Corporation, provider of medical practice management software and services, is pleased to announce that it has chosen Cerner Multum(TM) content and patient-specific drug information service as a critical component of EMRge(TM), their Electronic Medical Record product.

A 2003 study by the Nutritional Institute of America estimates there are 199,000 deaths annually by outpatient adverse drug reactions. By using the Multum database in conjunction with EMRge, SSIMED is providing its clients the tools needed to reduce the number of adverse reactions and provide the best care available to their patients. The Multum database includes a comprehensive list of drugs that are updated monthly as well as drug to drug interactions, drug to drug allergy notifications, and drug therapeutic duplications.

"At SSIMED, we strive to make the task of practice management easier for our clients. With the introduction of EMRge, we are able to provide physicians with a complete practice management system starting with our Scheduler, going into the exam room with EMRge and ending with a complete medical billing solution. All these solutions are geared towards saving physicians money. The Multum service is part of this solution. It will help physicians save money by reducing the number of adverse drug reactions which can cost the health care organization up to $6,000 per event," said Frank Perrotta Jr. CIO.

SSIMED's software and services currently provide thousands of physicians with the flexible tools needed to manage today's complex medical practices. SSIMED solutions include billing, scheduling, collections, workflow, e-prescribing, document management, lab ordering and centralized claims processing systems as well as revenue cycle management services.
