Free Nonpartisan November Election Guide Available to California Troops

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 1, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Members of the military from California who are currently serving outside of the state are eligible to receive a free, easy-to-understand, nonpartisan Election Guide for the special election being held on November 5, 2005. The guide, created by Godfrey Harris, a political scientist and public policy consultant, breaks down the eight projected propositions slated for the special election called by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Each proposition's core issues are analyzed to show their likely impact on the citizens of California.

"Fully understanding ballot issues can be difficult for someone far from the political action," said Godfrey Harris of Harris/Ragan Management Group, who has been creating this guide for the past 17 years. "But voting can be just as important in the defense of our democracy as serving under arms. The Election Guide will make the task a little easier for military personnel by getting behind the ads, slogans and endorsements, which often mask the truth of propositions."

Those who have received the guide in the past appreciate the information to help them understand the issues taking place back home. Jeanne Tratner said, "I certainly derived a much better understanding and clarification of the various California ballot measures from the guide." SPC Nicholas Damiano said, "Thank you for helping out us California troops."

Members of the military who are registered to vote in California can request the guide by sending an e-mail to hrmg@aol.com with their name and APO/FPO address in order to receive their free guide before the November election. Relatives of military personnel can also submit the information on their behalf. Requests can also be sent to Harris/Ragan Management Group, 9200 Sunset Blvd., Suite 404, Los Angeles, CA 90069-3506 or faxed to: 310.271.3649.
