STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Aug. 16, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Medicover has acquired a Polish laboratory business, Laboratorium Medyczne "Eurolab" Sp. z o.o. for an undisclosed amount. Eurolab is a large, quality accredited laboratory located in Lodz, central Poland. Fredrik Ragmark, Medicover's Managing Director stated that, "Medicover is extending its human diagnostic laboratory activities in Poland building on the base that has been established over the last 2 years. We will see further synergies coming from this acquisition and a strengthening of the operational resources of Synevo. We expect to see further acquisition and expansion opportunities in the coming 12 to 18 months." The laboratory activities of Medicover trade under the name Synevo in Poland and Romania.
Synevo is established in Gdansk, Warsaw, Lublin and Wroclaw, and will now add Lodz as another centre of activity.
The acquired business has annual revenues of approximately PLN 12 million, and serves three hospitals and also provides outpatient services. The acquisition will be earnings positive immediately.
Medicover is listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange.
