Lantronix Ships World's First RoHS-Compliant, Fully Integrated Embedded Device Server Module

Award-Winning XPort Now Available in a RoHS-Compliant, Environmentally Friendly Version

IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 18, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Lantronix, Inc. (Nasdaq:LTRX), a leading provider of device networking technologies, today announced the shipment of the first RoHS-compliant XPort embedded device server months ahead of the regulatory deadline. Mandated by the European Parliament and Council of the European Union, RoHS (Restriction on Hazardous Substances) requires that manufacturers reduce the usage of hazardous substances including lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, or polybrominated diphenyl in electrical and electronic equipment by July 2006. As of that date, companies whose products are not RoHS compliant will not be permitted for sale throughout Europe and eventually in parts of Asia.

OEMs can now take advantage of the world's leading embedded web server and be assured it is fully compliant with the new RoHS standards. The RoHS-compliant XPort is completely form-fit-function compatible with non-RoHS XPort devices currently being sold on the market. In a small RJ-45 package, XPort continues to provide customers with a solution that allows quick and easy networking of virtually any device or machine onto an IP network or the Internet. It provides manufacturers a highly integrated hardware and software platform that can instantly increase an end product's value and significantly reduce development time, risk and cost. "By providing OEMs a RoHS-compliant XPort product before the mandated deadline, we are not only providing them with an award-winning solution, we have also made it easier for customers to transition to the new RoHS standards," said Marc Nussbaum, CEO of Lantronix. "Lantronix has always been concerned about the environment and has already received ISO (International Organizations for Standardization) 14001 certification, which provides companies a management system that helps develop and execute a policy that ultimately reduces harmful effects on the environment. By being the world's first to deliver a RoHS-compliant embedded device server, we are once again demonstrating our commitment to important green initiatives."

Orders for the RoHS-compliant XPort product will be accepted beginning this month, with volume shipments expected in September 2005. For more information on Lantronix RoHS plans, please visit: www.lantronix.com/about/rohs.html.
