STOCKHOLM, Sweden and SAN DIEGO, Aug. 18, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Effnet AB (New Market, Stockholm: EFFN) and QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq:QCOM) today announced that QUALCOMM has obtained a production license for Effnet's IP Header Compression software. The agreement brings together QUALCOMM's technology leadership and Effnet's unique expertise within IP Header Compression. Under the agreement, QUALCOMM has the right to integrate Effnet's software into select future chipsets for CDMA2000 1xEV-DO and WCDMA (UMTS) products.

Effnet's software helps provide efficient delivery of Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) services over CDMA2000 1xEV-DO and WCDMA networks. QUALCOMM and Effnet believe that this collaboration between the two companies will offer wireless equipment manufacturers who support Effnet Header Compression an opportunity for more rapid integration of next generation technology into their products shortening their time to market. Network operators utlizing Effnet Header Compression will also be able to more efficiently deliver content and thereby improve their average revenue per user while at the same time saving on operating expenditures.
