WHEN: Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. WHERE: Great Plaza at Penn's Landing Columbus Boulevard and Chestnut Street Philadelphia, Pa. WHAT: A culturally rich celebration of 14 Caribbean Islands featuring a collage of sights, sounds and smells. This festival, presented by PECO Energy and the Caribbean Festival Committee, now in it's 19th year, works to publicize the importance of island culture and the contribution of the Caribbean community to the Philadelphia region. Highlights of the Festival are: -- Entertainment includes gospel, reggae-rap, soca, steel drum, ska and calypso -- This year's entertainment line-up will feature: Bagga Riddim -- Band Voices of Africa Choral Ensemble, the St. Vincent & The Grenadines' Solid 7.0 Band, and the New York City Haitian group Q- Style Band. -- Authentic dancers, stiltwalkers and storytellers will also entertain the crowd. -- Caribbean Children's Village -- DJ Dance Party -- Array of tempting island cuisine including escovitched fish, Jamaica hard-dough bread, curried goat, Caribbean Kola Champagne and Mauby drink. BACKGROUND: Admission is free for all PECO Energy Multicultural Series Events. This event works to raise scholarship funds for students of Caribbean descent.
