SimpleTech Extends Memory Product Line -- Introduces DDR2 mini-DIMM Memory Modules Up to 2GB

Ideal for Networking, Portable and Medical System Applications Requiring Small Form Factor with Registered Functionality

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 23, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM, Memory Community, booth No. 932 -- SimpleTech, Inc.(r) (Nasdaq:STEC), a designer, manufacturer and marketer of custom and open-standard memory solutions based on Flash memory, DRAM and hard disk drive technologies, today announced the addition of DDR2 mini-DIMM modules to its memory product line. SimpleTech will exhibit its full line of memory modules at the Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco, Calif., August 23-25, 2005.

The new unbuffered and registered mini-DIMM modules are ideal for networking, telecommunications and medical applications that require DDR2 memory but do not have the space for standard sized DIMMs. Mini-DIMM modules are two inches shorter than standard DIMMs, thus meeting the requirements of compact designs. Available in capacities from 256MB to 2GB, SimpleTech's DDR2 mini-DIMMs are electrically compatible with standard DIMM modules.

"SimpleTech has seen increased interest in DDR2 products from companies in the communications and other embedded computing sectors that need modules with the high reliability offered by ECC but use less space to meet the requirements of highly compact designs," said Doug Finke, director of DRAM product marketing at SimpleTech. "These new mini-DIMM modules combine these critical design characteristics in one package."

The mini-DIMM board size is 3.23" x 1.18" and uses a 244 pin connector. The modules are all designed for a x72 width for operation with ECC and are available in speed grades of PC2-3200, PC2-4200 and PC2-5300. The modules are manufactured with a lead-free and RoHS compliant manufacturing process.

"Demand for embedded solutions with new connectors is increasing and SimpleTech is an early adopter of this new JEDEC standard," said Jim McGrath, director of strategic products at Molex Connector Corp. "We are excited about the market opportunities and are working closely with SimpleTech to provide new solutions to our customers as quickly as possible. Molex has a complete line of miniDIMM connectors including vertical, angled and horizontal (right angle) available today."

SimpleTech has had significant interaction with JEDEC, the memory standards organization, to meet industry design specifications. SimpleTech also is an active member of the Memory Implementers Forum (www.memforum.org), an online community advancing key memory technologies such as DDR2.

Engineering samples are currently available to OEM customers. Distribution is scheduled to begin this quarter through industrial distributors.

All SimpleTech memory modules come with a lifetime warranty backed by SimpleTech's reputation for quality and support.
