WHEN: Sunday, August 28th 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. WHERE: Great Plaza at Penn's Landing Columbus Boulevard and Chestnut Street Philadelphia, PA WHAT: A celebration of African American Culture with the following highlights: -- Entertainment line-up will include everything from gospel to hip-hop, jazz and R&B, along with traditional African cultural dancing, and a variety of drill teams and other performers. -- Marketplace featuring traditional African American, Caribbean and African foods and handicrafts. -- Tents and booths where visitors can learn more about the numerous not-for-profit and human service organizations. -- Sunday, August 28, 2005 will feature a Celebration of African and Gospel Rhythms including Spoken Word, poetry and dance. Dance groups performing include Universal Creative Art and Dance Ensemble, Troupe DaDa African Dance and Drum Ensemble, Kulu Mele African Dance and Drum Ensemble. Gospel recording artist Nicole Torrie will also perform on Sunday. BACKGROUND: This free event is presented by PECO Energy and the African Heritage Center. Admission is free for all PECO Energy Multicultural Series Events. Penn's Landing provides entertainment and festivals for families throughout the year.
