TeliaSonera to Provide Fortum with Pan-Nordic Voice Communications Solutions as an Outsourced Total Service

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Sept. 1, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- TeliaSonera Finland and Fortum have signed a significant Nordic co-operation agreement on the outsourcing of voice communications services. The term of the agreement is three years, and the parties have agreed not to disclose its value. The agreement, which covers Finland, Sweden and Norway, strengthens TeliaSonera's position as a total service provider of communications solutions for companies operating in the Nordic countries.

The new agreement represents an important step for TeliaSonera as a total provider of pan-Nordic communications solutions.

"We will receive voice communications services and equipment as a total service from TeliaSonera, which will also be responsible for the maintenance and development of our service environment," says Fortum's Chief Information Officer Jouni Keronen.

The agreement covers about 9,000 Fortum employees in Finland, Sweden and Norway. As a result of the outsourcing of communications services, six persons will transfer to TeliaSonera's employ.

For TeliaSonera, the partnership with Fortum supports the company's selected service strategy, according to which the company can now provide integrated communications services to corporate customers as a total service anywhere in the Nordic countries.

"In its scope, the cooperation agreement we have signed with Fortum is one of the most important total service agreements on telecommunications at the Nordic level and shows that our efforts have been successful. TeliaSonera has indisputable competence in the management and development of companies' integrated end-to-end communications environment. We can now harness our competence to promote the success of a leading energy company in the Nordic countries and other parts of the Baltic Rim," says TeliaSonera Finland's acting President Esa Korvenmaa.
