Hybrid Technologies Begins Production of Lithium Smart Car, DaimlerChrysler's Award Winning Vehicle Latest Model in Hybrid's Lineup

Advanced Lithium System Introduced Into Production Model Smart Car, European and World Market Targeted for Latest Hybrid Production Vehicle

LONDON and NEW YORK, Sept. 7, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Hybrid Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:HYBT) www.hybridtechnologies.com, is pleased to announce that the award winning and highly popular Mercedes - DaimlerChrysler Smart ForTwo coupe (www.smart.com) has been approved by the board of Hybrid Technologies and its development team for production.

The Smart Car's unique design characteristics as well as its technology proves to be a perfect match for Hybrid Technologies' advanced lithium system. The 6 speed vehicle -- vastly popular in the European and worldwide market -- has been the center of automotive media attention since its launch to acclaim in the early 90's.

Initial production models for the European market will focus on government and fleet retrofitting. The British government is already working with Hybrid Technologies to introduce Hybrid Technologies' lithium Mini Cooper into diplomatic service, serving as a model for integration into top European government organizations.

Hybrid Technologies has acquired a highly advanced drive and propulsion system developed over the last two years in an advanced propulsion systems laboratory specifically for the Smart Car. The Smart Car will also feature the latest lithium batteries supplied by EaglePicher Kokam (www.kokam.com) based in Korea, a worldwide leader in advanced lithium ion and polymer technology. In development, the relationship will create a close working support between Hybrid Technologies and EaglePicher Kokam to achieve the highest performance. Initial orders for lithium Smart Cars will be manufactured by award winning Cinema Vehicles (www.cinemavehicles.com), who have already joined forces with Hybrid Technologies on the R Car (Crossfire), Mini Cooper and PT Cruiser.

Holly Roseberry, President of Hybrid technologies stated: "The new Smart Car model is a breakthrough for our sales and marketing department as we have seen incredible interest in this vehicle so far from our clients. The addition of a new battery system will provide the new model with the best in advanced technology. We are poised as well to enter the coveted U.S. market with this model, thus we have a large advantage over our competition in the Americas."
