A New Age of Darkness -- Humans Fight to Regain Control of Earth from Alien Invaders in New Novel

PLEASANT HILL, Calif., Sept. 7, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Haden Galahad thought it was only a dream, that the world would never be destroyed. Then they came, and the awful nightmare ensued. Now, for Haden and the people of Earth, there is only one thing left to do: fight. Eric Roberts opens the door to a terrifying future in his new apocalyptic science fiction novel, "Dark Renaissance" (now available through AuthorHouse).

Set in the year 2029, the novel follows the exploits of a privileged American teenager, Haden, and the path down which destiny takes him. One evening, he has a dream that takes him across the universe, where he witnesses the destruction of all the planets, including Earth, by an alien race and its shadowy ruler. The next day, he and 30 of his friends are abducted from their school by a race of winged aliens. Despite their good intentions, the premonitions of the dream lead Haden to mistrust. Seemingly abandoned on Earth, he can only stand by as the real alien invaders emerge to ravage the planet. Riddled with guilt, Haden resolves to lead the resistance until victory or death.

City by city, the fingers of humankind's control over the planet are ripped from the dirt. For three years, Haden and his army scour the scorched landscape. Just when Haden thinks hope has almost been snuffed out, a new light appears in the form of a beautiful, mysterious stranger. Through her, they learn there is dissension in the ranks of their enemy and the friendly race that contacted them did not leave but were captured. With this new information, Haden rises to lead his army against the aliens for the final rebellion, armed with only the strength of the human spirit.

An intense, gritty vision of the future, "Dark Renaissance" plunges readers into a nightmare to reveal the power of the soul.

Born in 1989, Roberts has lived his whole life in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has nurtured a lifelong interest in writing and completed "Dark Renaissance," his first novel, at age 14.
