REDONDO BEACH, Calif., Sept. 8, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- The American Red Cross will hold a fundraising drive on Friday, Sept. 9, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., at Northrop Grumman Corporation's Space Park facility in north Redondo Beach to help provide immediate relief for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
The event allows donors to make monetary contributions from their cars while "driving through" a designated parking area. Everyone will get complimentary snacks while making donations from the comfort and convenience of their cars.
Representatives of the American Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles will be present to accept contributions.

Monetary donations will be used to provide food, clothing, shelter and other emergency services right now in Louisiana and Mississippi, and other places affected by the storm and its aftermath.
Northrop Grumman has about 20,000 employees on the Louisiana and Mississippi coasts. The company will contribute an initial $2 million for relief assistance, which will support a relief fund established specifically for its Gulf Coast employees affected by Hurricane Katrina. Northrop Grumman will match, dollar for dollar, employee contributions to this fund.
Local communities in the affected region will receive support from Northrop Grumman through a contribution to the American Red Cross.
