SEATTLE, Sept. 21, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Satsop Development Park has received a top honor for economic development by the U.S. Department of Commerce, garnering the "Excellence in Rural Economic Development" award. Satsop Development Park is home to SafeHarbor Technology Corporation, which is the earliest tenant of the park and today its largest employer with 125 staff members sited there. SafeHarbor, an early adopter of the "ruralsourcing" model, provides one of the success stories contributing to the development park's selection for the award.
SafeHarbor chose the Satsop Development Park for several reasons, including its:

The development park was formed by the county in 1999. Currently there are about 24 businesses located at the site, providing approximately 400 jobs. The federal agency will host its awards ceremony on Sept. 22, at the Ritz-Carlton in Arlington, Virginia.
