ATLANTA, Sept. 23, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- This morning, Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) operated final flights out of Houston before suspending its operations to brace for the impact of Hurricane Rita. Overnight, Delta operated four additional flights out of Houston to accommodate 600 customers evacuating the area. Delta has proactively canceled some flights because of the storm and is contacting customers to assist them in adjusting their travel plans.
Cities impacted include (note: information may change pending airport operations):
-- Houston, Texas (Hobby Airport) -- service suspended, will resume
on Sunday
-- Houston, Texas (Intercontinental Airport) -- service suspended,
will resume on Sunday
-- Corpus Christi, Texas -- evening service suspended, will resume
on Saturday
-- New Orleans, Louisiana -- evening service suspended, will resume
on Saturday
-- Baton Rouge, Louisiana -- evening service suspended, will resume
on Sunday
-- Lafayette, Louisiana -- evening service suspended, will resume
on Saturday
Affected customers who have purchased tickets for travel to, from or through Texas and Louisiana on Delta, Song(r), Delta Connection(r), or Delta-coded flights, may make a one-time change without penalty or additional fees. Customers can visit delta.com or call 1-800-325-1999 to check on impacted flights.
Customers whose flights are canceled may request refunds. Changes to origins and destinations may result in a fare increase, and any fare difference between the original and new ticket will be collected at the time of rebooking.
