ATLANTA, Sept. 27, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Just in time for the December holidays, Delta Air Lines' (NYSE:DAL) customers will have more opportunities to exchange the snow and freezing temperatures of the Northeast United States for the tropical breezes and beaches of the Caribbean. Beginning Dec. 17, Delta will operate Saturday flights between Boston and Nassau, the Bahamas.
"We continue to demonstrate our commitment to bringing more service into the Caribbean with this important bridge between Boston and Nassau, a destination which provides its visitors with some of the world's favorite beach, golf and casino experiences," said James Sarvis, Delta's director - Latin America and Caribbean Region.
Delta's new service between Boston and Nassau adds to its extensive Caribbean network of 28 markets served from the United States. Delta flies to Nassau from seven U.S. cities and in addition serves Freeport, the Bahamas, from its largest hub in Atlanta.
In November and December, Delta will begin service to four new Caribbean markets from its Atlanta hub: Punta Cana (Nov. 19); Santo Domingo (Dec. 1); Bridgetown (Dec. 8); and Antigua (Dec. 18).
The bustling capital of the Bahamas, Nassau retains the genial British charm of this Commonwealth nation. The islands of the Bahamas offer visitors a wide assortment of aquatic activities -- sailing, swimming, fishing, diving and snorkeling -- as well as numerous as golf courses and white sand beaches from which to choose. After a full day of activity, Nassau boasts a host of excellent restaurants featuring traditional Bahamian fare as well as European specialties, plus a variety of colorful casinos and other nightlife venues.
