Mass Connections Assists Salvation Army with Hurricane Disaster Relief Efforts

CERRITOS, Calif., Oct. 6, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- On October 7th, Mass Connections(r), the nation's industry leader in retail marketing services and consumer related promotions, will launch its efforts to support the thousands of families affected by the recent hurricane disasters through the distribution of envelopes to nationwide retail shoppers that are pre-addressed to the Salvation Army. The envelopes will provide a reminder to shoppers of the dire need for assistance to their neighboring communities and an opportunity for consumers to make a critically needed donation to the Salvation Army in their efforts to support victims of the recent hurricane disasters.

Mass Connections' unique capability to connect to thousands of Americans everyday provides an excellent opportunity to reach out and encourage them to make a vital contribution. Consumers are so busy with today's hectic schedule that the pre-addressed envelope will provide a tangible reminder of an opportunity to assist the Salvation Army in their efforts. The envelopes will be distributed by in-store event personnel. The consumer can simply stamp the envelope containing a donation, drop it in the mail and the victims of Hurricane Katrina, the worst natural disaster in American History and the closely-following disaster, Hurricane Rita, will benefit.

Caroline Cotten Nakken, President and CEO of Mass Connections, on MC's efforts: "Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims of the hurricanes, and we strive to contribute something substantial to the ongoing efforts. When you see an in-store event in your neighborhood where envelopes are being distributed, please take one. Encourage your families to participate; mail in a financial contribution to the Salvation Army's efforts to aid those in need. Every person and every dollar makes a difference."

John B. Jones, Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations at The Salvation Army's National Headquarters, outlined The Salvation Army's recent work: "The Salvation Army's mobilization in response to hurricanes Katrina and Rita has been the greatest disaster response to a natural disaster in the United States since the Army's establishment 125 years ago. Disaster response teams are actively involved and have served in excess of 4 million meals and assisted 500,000 disaster survivors as they attempt to put their lives back together. Distribution centers have been established across the affected areas where those impacted by the hurricanes may receive food, water, ice, counseling, pastoral and medical care, clean up kits, material assistance and basic social services. The Salvation Army is well suited for the next phases of recovery for survivors, regardless of their location, because of its 1,330 service centers that are staffed by officers, employees and volunteers who respond daily to the needs of people in crisis, and the Army's ability to quickly and efficiently shift resources to the greatest point of need."

Mass Connections Event personnel will distribute 375,000 envelopes in retail stores nationwide during in-store consumer marketing events. This campaign will continue through the end of 2005.
