Unity Wireless Licenses QUALCOMM's RepeaterOne CDMA and WCDMA Repeater Technology

BURNABY, British Columbia, Oct. 20, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Unity Wireless Corporation (OTCBB:UTYW), a developer of integrated wireless subsystems, power amplifiers and coverage enhancement solutions, today announced that it has signed a repeater license agreement with QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq:QCOM). The royalty bearing agreement grants Unity Wireless rights to develop products based on QUALCOMM's RepeaterOne(tm) technology.

Ilan Kenig, President and CEO of Unity Wireless commented, "RepeaterOne has many distinctive capabilities that benefit cellular operators deploying 3G wireless networks using WCDMA or CDMA2000 1X and 1xEV-DO standards, as well as for operators of CDMAOne networks. The RepeaterOne technology enables smart solutions for wireless network coverage enhancement in addition to measurement of call traffic through the repeater -- all at highly attractive price points. We anticipate that this new family of products will begin to contribute significantly to our 2006 sales."

A repeater is part of the wireless network infrastructure and is often used to augment signal coverage at the edges of a cell, or in cases where terrain, such as valleys or buildings, limit the signals sent and received by a Base Transceiver Station (BTS). Repeaters are also used to augment cellular coverage inside buildings where signals from an outdoor BTS may not provide optimal performance due to the challenges of signals penetrating the building envelope. Where improved signal coverage is desired, repeaters can be deployed in these areas at a fraction of the cost of a BTS, making them a cost-effective method of improving signal coverage.

Richard Dean, Vice President of Engineering at QUALCOMM, commented, "We are pleased that Unity Wireless has chosen to license our RepeaterOne technology and welcome them as part of our distinguished group of worldwide licensees. Unity Wireless is taking the initiative to provide its customers with leading-edge technology and we look forward to supporting them in their efforts to make RepeaterOne the industry standard for repeaters in 3G CDMA networks."
